Whether you are starting your journey with Para powerlifting or looking to move to the next level, Para Powerlifting Australia are here to help you find your next path. See below the guide towards national and international competition pathways for Para powerlifting athletes.


Para Powerlifting Athlete Development Pathway

New/Participaton:
  • All ages welcome.
  • No experience required -Check Eligibility
  • Compete at local / Development competitions (provisional classification preferred) and Grand Prix's and National events (National Classification).

Representative
  • Qualifying standards for Senior World Championships (>45 Years), International Classification, WPPO License.
  • Compete at Legends World Championships & World Cup events, Grand Prix's and National events.

     

Pre-Emerging & Emerging
  • Emerging Talent that demonstrates potential to become a 'Developing Athlete'.
  • Selected and/or Categorised by Para Powerlifting Australia
  • National Classification and WPPO License
  • Invited to Development Camps and compete at Grand Prix's and National events and International events (Australian Minimum Qualifying standards required)- Events selection criteria

Developing
  • Developing Talent with potential to be internationally ranked in their respective weight class.
  • Selected and/or Categorised by Para Powerlifting Australia.
  • International Classification and WPPO License
  • Invited to High Performance Camps and compete at Grand Prix's and National events and International events
High Performance
  • Elite level Para Powerlifter representing Australia at International events
  • Selected and Categorised by Para Powerlifting Australia.
  • International Classification and WPPO License
  • Invited to High Performance Camps and compete at Grand Prix's and National events and International events

How to compete at the next level

Step 1, meet minimal impairment criteriaStep 2 preparation, engage a strength and conditioning coach and join a gymStep 3 compete at local, development and nationalsSteps for international competitions; obtain a WPP and follow the WPP Paralympic qualification pathway licence, get international classified, meet Australian Minimum standards qualification,

Note: Consideration for International teams require a national classification at a Para powerlifting national event.
